Raw Motherhood: Reflections from a New & Seasoned Mama {Part 3}

Raw Motherhood

New

A time to be rewarded. He’s saying well done. It’s still only the beginning, but each season can bear sweet ripe fruit; well done. Enjoy! Leave your worries behind, that season is over. You do not need a reminder. Play! Laugh! Breathe deep the fresh air. Be kissed by heaven, daily.
– Mary Katherine Burbach

Seasoned

Learning to communicate with my child as a teenager requires a shift in thinking: intellect to intellect, wisdom paired with fresh knowledge, tradition in contrast with new ideas. We stand in this field of grace, sometimes with wills combating, but hearts always covered with love.

New

Spiritual heritage, spiritual journey, spiritual destiny. This child has one of each. Cultivate. Dig deep. Hear the Father. It’s time to write, paint, sing, draw, and pray the destiny of the fruit of my womb. Eyes to see and ears to hear. Yes, Papa, let it be.

Seasoned

I sip from the earthen cup my daughter has crafted – a piece of clay pulled, wedged, turned and smoothed by her strong young hands into a beautiful expression of art. Her life, also, has been crafted by the gentle capable hands of the Father – pulling, turning, smoothing – until she has become this beautiful expression of Him. I sip. I trust. He is faithful.
